PHOTO: AFP LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought a comprehensive report from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the repatriation of Pakistanis convicted and imprisoned in jails of Iran. IHC judge Shahid Waheed on Monday resumed hearing of a case filed by the Justice Project Pakistan for the return of Pakistanis incarcerated in the neighbouring Islamic state.  Ministry of Foreign Affairs Assistant Director for Turkey and Iran Saima Khan appeared on behalf of the ministry.

The accolade seeks to acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of unsung heroes who have shown great resilience and determination in uplifting their communities, breaking social taboos, and overcoming obstacles. “I am humbled that the BBC has deemed me worthy of this prestigious award I feel I still have a long, long way to go, said Yafat, according to a statement issued by the Justice Project Pakistan (JPP).

Pakistan s Overcrowded Prisons Ravaged By Pandemic, Amnesty Says December 14, 2020 Share share Print Pakistan’s handling of the coronavirus threat faced by tens of thousands of detainees held in overcrowded prisons has been severely criticized in a report by Amnesty International (AI) released on December 14. The report, titled Prisoners Of The Pandemic: The Right To Health And COVID-19 In Pakistan s Detention Facilities, called for renewed efforts to free some categories of inmates, especially the elderly, women, and “prisoners of conscience.” The Pakistani government has not fulfilled a pledge to ease prison overcrowding made when the pandemic first hit, said the joint report by the London-based AI and Justice Project Pakistan.
