NZ police release additional image in appeal over Māngere incident

As stated by Detective Senior Sergeant Kepal Richards, Counties Manukau CIB: Police investigating an incident in Māngere last month which resulted in the death of Kimleang Youn are releasing a further appeal. The 28-year-old man, who was also known as Heng, died late last week from his injuries following the incident on 28 April on Robertson Road. The Operation Kinley team have now identified the vehicle we believe was involved in the incident. Police are now seeking the public’s assistance to identify a person that can assist our investigation into what happened to Kimleang. Today, we are releasing an image of this man. While we recognise the image is not high quality, we would ask anyone with information to come forward to Police.

Sadly the man died as a result of his injuries in hospital at the end of last week. Over the weekend Police have been in the process of notifying the man’s family, who reside overseas. We can now name the man as 28-year-old Kimleang Youn, who was also known by his nickname Heng. Police and Victim Support are providing as much assistance as possible to his family at this difficult time.

Press Release – New Zealand Police Detective Senior Sergeant Kepal Richards, Counties Manukau CIB: Police are appealing for the public’s assistance in our investigation into an incident where a man suffered critical injuries in Māngere. At around 8.30pm on Wednesday 28 April, emergency services were called after a man fell from a moving vehicle on Robertson Road, near the intersection with Gadsby Road. The vehicle involved did not stop after the incident occurred. The man who fell, who is aged in his 20s, was taken to Auckland Hospital where he remains in a critical condition. The investigation team are aware of a number of witnesses who came to the victim’s aid immediately after the incident occurred.
