Police say this is one of two men who offered to help two women who were shot while on Sunday. Police had asked members of the hunting group to come forward, but had not heard from them this week. Detective Sergeant Paul Slater said one woman was injured in the lower leg and the other in the shoulder. The men responsible spoke to the injured women when they realised what had happened and offered assistance, but then left the scene in their boat. Police were notified of the matter after the women had their injuries treated at the Alexandra Medical Centre.
A man has been arrested in relation to a violent attack in Queenstown in March 5 May 2021
The complainant is also being charged with giving false information - after police established the attack was not random.
Police initially said a Good Samaritan suffered a fractured jaw, after an assault and robbery on the Queenstown side of the Crown Range.
They said a man signalled for help using a cellphone torch, claiming something was wrong with his vehicle.
Detective Senior Sergeant Malcolm Inglis say a 20-year-old Cromwell man has been charged with the robbery.
But Inglis says the man originally portrayed as an innocent good samaritan will also face the courts.
