GUWAHATI: Union minister of state for social justice and president of the Republican Party of India (RPI-A) Ramdas Athawale on Sunday said his party will contest the upcoming state elections alone, if BJP does not form an alliance with his party.
BJP in Assam is likely to finalize the seat sharing agreement with its allies by March.
“Our party has a presence in every district in Assam. We would like to form an alliance with the BJP and will seek four to five seats for RPI-A. We want the Sarbananda Sonowal-led BJP government to come to power once again. I have sought an appointment with Sonowal on Sunday night for the discussion,” Athawale said here.
