New buyers are seeing condo prices come within reach in downtown areas awash with vacant high rises. But young families are also being priced out of starter homes in suburbs at a faster rate.

2020 resale market: A new record of 110,000 residential transactions

The Quebec Professional Association of Real Estate Brokers (QPAREB) presents its review of 2020 following the impact of COVID-19, highlights of a new survey on buying and selling intentions, and its 2021 forecasts for the residential real estate market in the Montreal Census Metropolitan Area (CMA), the Quebec City CMA and the province of Quebec. Highlights: Review of the 2020 resale market Record-setting sales in 2020, with 110,000 projected transactions; A 15 per cent increase in sales and a 29 per cent decrease in listings, all property categories combined; Significant increase in single-family home sales (+17 per cent) from January to November; Sales in non-CMAs increased by 28 per cent from January to November while sales in CMAs increased by 10 per cent, which demonstrates an acceleration in movement to areas outside the main cities;

December 16, 2020 Just after 8:30 pm on Friday, December 12th, Galesburg Police responded to Harley’s Pub on Grand Avenue in reference to a fight in progress. Upon arrival, police spoke with the victim who had visible injuries to his knee and there was visible damage to the entrance to Harley’s Pub. The victim told police that while outside the bar, he witnessed 41-year old Ryan Bird of Galesburg in a verbal altercation with a female subject and intervened. When the victim turned his back, Bird pushed him up against a wall and struck him several times in the chest. The victim then retreated to inside the bar and Bird repeatedly tried to enter the bar to continue fighting. According to police reports, witnesses confirmed the victim’s story. Police made contact with Bird and placed him under arrest. Back at the Public Safety Building Bird continued to deny the accusations. He was charged with Aggravated Battery in a Public Place and Criminal Damage to Property. Bird was rece
