Several leading Catholic bishops and other religious leaders have backed the Dec. 15 letter “Created Male and Female” published on the website of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
The letter stressed two themes: male and female are God-given differences that must be publicly acknowledged, and those who are confused about their own identity deserve authentic support.
“We hope this letter communicates to the public our shared understanding of the goodness of the creation of humanity as male or female and underscores our commitment to service of this truth with both clarity and compassion,” said Bishop James Conley of Lincoln, chair of the bishops’ Subcommittee for the Promotion and Defense of Marriage.

An online retreat this coming weekend will offer support to women for whom Mother’s Day is a painful reminder of childlessness.
Springs in the Desert, a Catholic ministry dedicated to assisting couples affected by infertility, will host “Belonging: Springs of Hope,” a mix of live events and pre-recorded talks from May 7 to 9. The free series will begin with Mass on Friday at 7 p.m. EDT celebrated by Father Thomas Zehr from St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
After completing their online registration, participants will receive a passcode to access the secure sessions, ensuring confidentiality.

Maureen “Missy” O’Dea Hollander, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021 in Rio Rancho, NM due to complications from her heart conditions.
Missy was born April 29, 1953 to Dr. Hugh B. Woodward and wife Aileen in Rochester, NY, subsequently moving to Albuquerque, NM. She graduated from Highland High School in 1971, and obtained her BS in Nursing from the University of New Mexico in 1975.
She married her High School sweetheart on August 12, 1972 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Albuquerque, NM. She worked as a registered nurse for nearly 30 years, primarily at the Los Alamos Medical Center-OB.
