Dear Christians, I am writing to encourage you in the face of increasing pressure to conform to the world. It may feel like we are wading into unprecedented times for those who want to faithfully live the way God has laid out but I endeavour to encourage you that although the pressure and persecution is different it is not new.
A great cloud of witnesses
One of the wonderful things about living in the 21st century is that we have thousands of years of testimonies from faithful Christians to look back upon – and thousands of years of Biblical history to also be encouraged by. In Hebrews Chapter 12 verse 1, Paul says –

While knowledge is attainable, wisdom is nature’s gift or an acquired attribute that comes with time and experience. There can be no doubts as to how invaluable information can be, but its application is where wisdom becomes irreplaceable. Having a lot of know-how is one thing, but utilising it to one’s best capacity is another. Besides, the knowledge that is retained rather than disseminated can also have serious consequences. Robin Morgan is quoted as saying: “Knowledge is power. Information is power. The secreting or hoarding of knowledge or information may be an act of tyranny camouflaged as humility.”
