(WCSC) - Construction is set to begin this year on a long-awaited, 2-mile park stretching the upper part of Charleston’s peninsula known as the Lowcountry Lowline. Now, Charleston city leaders and the group spearheading the project want to make sure the improvements still protect the neighborhoods surrounding the project. Tom Bradford is with the developing group Friends of the Lowcountry Lowline. He says the revamped corridor will be more than a park but a critical connection for local neighborhoods.

Her mother and grandmother taught her how to make baskets when she was just 4 years old. Decades later, Jackson has been recognized for her sweetgrass baskets. Her art has been on display at numerous museums, including the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Gibbes Museum of Art and The Museum of African American History in Detroit.

(WCSC) - A resolution to condemn white nationalism is under consideration by Charleston City Council. Council member Robert Mitchell said he initially proposed this resolution in response to controversy involving fellow council member Harry Griffin, whose photo appeared in a flyer for a rally in December involving the Charleston Tea Party and the Proud Boys. Mitchell said this resolution is even more important than it was before because of the events at the Capitol on Jan. 6.
