We Only Have a Gas Shortage Because We Created It Ourselves Courtney Linder
There s no real gas shortage in the southeastern U.S. just a perceived one.
Panic buying has caused gas stations to run dry, perpetuating yet more panic buying, and forcing some regions into a State of Emergency.
Experts say you should put down that spare oil can, quit panic-buying, and make a few small adjustments to get your current gas tank to stretch out for longer.
Over half of the gas stations in Virginia are without gasoline. Things are even more grim in North Carolina, where almost three-quarters of stations are out of petrol, according to Gas Buddy, a company that helps consumers find real-time gas prices. Governors in both states have declaredthe crisis a State of Emergency.

Dive Brief:
The city council of Charlotte, North Carolina, recently approved a public-private partnership between the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) and Duke Energy subsidiary eTransEnergy for a pilot program testing the feasibility of battery electric bus vehicles in the city and surrounding area.
The partnership which still must be finalized between the two parties will test 18 vehicles from three different manufacturers over 12 to 18 months and is expected to begin in early 2022. CATS will collect data and assess vehicle performance with an eye toward future deployment of more electric buses.
The project is supported by the Bloomberg Philanthropies American Cities Climate Challenge. A $3.7 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) will fund six of the 18 vehicles, with the rest being paid for by the CATS Capital Investment Program.
Panic buying strikes Southeastern United States as shuttered pipeline resumes operations Will Englund, Ellen Nakashima
Replay Video UP NEXT A sudden fuel shortage worsened across the eastern half of the United States on Wednesday after a cyberattack crippled a major pipeline, as long lines, sharp words and pumps gone dry greeted unhappy drivers from the Alabama foothills to the Chesapeake Bay. Although government and industry officials said the nation had plenty of fuel and the pipeline was set to resume operations in the evening, nervous drivers clogged gas stations and created shortages in parts or all of 11 states. At least 12,000 gas stations reported being completely empty, and the squeeze pushed the price of a gallon past $3, its highest in years.
