CMPD responds to Charlotte Walmart after reports of gunshots

A person has been arrested following a shooting at a Charlotte Walmart Monday. The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department confirmed the arrest Friday, five days after someone allegedly fired a weapon inside the Steele Creek store on March 8. Around 7:30 p.m., CMPD officers, the Charlotte Fire Department, and Medic responded to a store, located at 8180 South Tryon Street, after someone reported hearing gunshots. Steele Creek officers, the K-9 Unit and members of the SWAT team evacuated employees and customers out of the building while officers searched for any injured people. The entrance to the Walmart was also taped off.

Jayla Duncan was last seen on Weyland Avenue around 8 a.m. Monday. Police say she is a 4th grader at Movement School on Freedom Drive and did not report there today.
