CHARLOTTE, N.C. One person is dead following an incident in southeast Charlotte, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department reports.
According to police, the incident happened in the 8000 block of Riverbirch Drive in southeast Charlotte. Police said when their officers arrived on the scene they found 26-year-old Divante Lavaska Brown with an apparent trauma. Police said he was pronounced dead on the scene by Medic.
CMPD continued their investigation which led them to identify a suspect in the case.
On Monday, CMPD announced they arrested 29-year-old James Tyler Singleton in connection to Brown s death.
During its weekly press conference Wednesday, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department fielded multiple questions on how the police are interacting with people living in homelessness.
