Sophia Herzog swims at the Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center 10 times a week, resting only on Sundays.
The pool is her office and just about the only other regular commitment her schedule allows for is walking her black cattle dog mix, Odie. It’s an odd place to train for one of the fastest and most elite Paralympic swimmers alive.
Herzog, 23, won silver in the 100-meter breaststroke at the 2016 games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Now she spends her days battling local high school teenagers in the pool to keep her fitness up.
BBC Research and Consulting presented a market analysis considering the potential for building and operating outdoor soaking pools at Salida’s work session Monday.
Salida moved to Tier II of its COVID-19 action plan as of Friday.Â
The action came as a result of the county moving to âYellow Levelâ on the stateâs COVID-19 dial on Feb. 6.Â
As a result, city council and planning commission meetings along with meetings of all boards and commissions will allow limited in-person attendance for purposes of conducting public hearings beginning March 2.Â
The city is requesting those wishing to testify to please do so on the GoToWebinar platform or by email or letter.Â
In person testimony will be limited to 10 people in the meeting room at any given time, in addition to staff and board members.Â
Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center will remain closed until at least Friday, pending contact tracing results after the discovery of a positive case of COVID-19 connected with the facility over
