Police were called to Burcombe Lane, just after 10pm yesterday (Thursday, May 6). The incident involved a green BMW and a Blue Honda motorbike, with the rider of the bike, a man in his 20s, suffering injuries to his shoulder and leg which required him to go to Salisbury District Hospital for treatment. The BMW was located on Randall’s Croft Road and has been seized. No arrests have been made at this stage, and police remained at the scene while arrangements were made for the vehicles to be recovered.

This brings the total number of Covid-related deaths at the hospital to 213 since the pandemic began. The patient, who was in his 80s, died on Sunday (May 2) and had underlying health conditions. A statement from the hospital said: Sadly, we can confirm that a further patient who had tested positive for Covid-19 and had been cared for at Salisbury District Hospital has died. 213 patients in total have now passed away. At around 8.15pm on Saturday, May 1, 2021, Dorset Police received a report of a single vehicle collision on the B3081 Shaftesbury Road between Shaftesbury and Gillingham, near to the access to Port Regis School. The collision involved a silver Audi A6 Allroad estate. Emergency services attended and a 23-year-old female passenger of the Audi was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has been informed. A 28-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were both taken to Salisbury District Hospital with serious injuries.
