The crisis rocking the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Ondo State took a new dimension on Sunday as factional groups engaged in a free for all at Owode, Akure, the state capital.
The cause of the fight is yet to be ascertained, but it might not be unconnected to leadership tussle rocking the union in the state.
Two leaders of the union, Omoniyi Oni popularly known as Eniba and Wasiu Ibrahim, were reportedly attacked by suspected thugs allegedly sponsored by a faction of the union.
Speaking on the attack, Oni who said they were caught unawares when the sponsored thugs traced them to a barbing salon and attacked them, beating them blue-black, and using dangerous weapons on them.

Some members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, in Akure, Ondo State, clashed on Sunday evening at Owode Area of Akure, the state capital.
The cause of the clash was yet unknown as of the time of filing this report but it was gathered that the incident was a clash between the factions of the union.
Many members of the union were reportedly injured in the clash.
One of the injured, Mr Omoniyi Oni said he and his fellow drivers were allegedly attacked at a barbing salon by some members of a faction loyal to the state chairman of the union, Mr Jacob Adebo, adding that the attackers waylaid them and attacked them with dangerous weapons.

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, said Lagos State was heading in a wrong direction within 2017-2018 before the incumbent Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was elected.
The former state governor said upon assumption of office, Sanwo-Olu had turned the ship of the state into the right direction.
Tinubu disclosed this on Friday at the opening of 1.4km-long Agege Pen Cinema flyover which commenced in December 2017 during the administration of ex-Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, who was absent at the inauguration.
He said Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, had shown good leadership quality since they took on the mantle of governance.
