Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State on Friday announced another round of curfew time of 10 pm to 5 am and shifted the resumption of schools in the state, tentatively, to February all in a bid to check the spread of coronavirus in the state.
Obaseki, who announced the measures at a press briefing in Government House on the second wave of the pandemic, stressed that the curfew became imperative following the fast spread among rural and urban dwellers, unlike the first wave when infections were limited to the urban centres.
The governor announced that private schools in the state would resume, tentatively on February 1 to ensure that modalities were put in place in line with the COVID-19 protocols, adding that a monitoring team from the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) would oversee compliance before the proposed date. There are so many of them out there – struggling (endlessly), seeking shelter, feeding, and clothing without any hope that such basic needs will be met but my fear now is that they are fast becoming loose street gangs of teenage boys with access to drugs and weapons ready to commit crimes as drastic as murder. Just like me, if you had a heart of passion, you couldn’t pretend blind to their needs.

A group of media players in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State known as The Pacesetter Initiative (TPI), has taken a swipe at Governor Seyi Makinde over his reported trip to the United States of America.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Monday relocated motor parks and markets near the highways to other locations in order to reduce road traffic crashes and fatalities in Jalingo.
Corps Commander Selina Williams, the Taraba Sector Commander of FRSC, who led the team of officers on the clearance operation at Mile Six Market, along Jalingo-Yola road said the move was in line with the corp’s operational mandate to clear obstructions on the roads.
Williams educated traders and members of the transport unions including National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and TASCOTMAN on the purpose of the exercise.
