The State is eager to usher in green energy on roads by introducing electric vehicles (EVs) in the fleet of the AP State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC).
These battery-charged EVs may soon become a common sight on the roads with private automobile dealers too realising the significance of the cost-effective and clean and green mode of transport.

Telangana Police on Thursday arrested three persons including a leader of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in connection with the gruesome murder of an advocate couple.
Kunta Srinivas, the main accused and President of the ruling party s Manthani mandal unit, was among the arrested.
Inspector General of Police (North Zone) Y. Nagi Reddy announced the arrests on Thursday night. Chiranjeevi and Akkapaka Kumar are the two other accused taken into custody.
A few hours before the police official announced the arrests, the TRS suspended Srinivas from the party with immediate effect.
Srinivas and Chiranjeevi were arrested between Wankedi and Chandrapur in Maharashtra.

A team of the AP State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) officials, led by its Vice-Chairman and Managing Director R.P. Thakur, is on a three-day visit to Gujarat to study the best practices and the PPP model for development of international standard bus ports (terminals) developed by the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) and replicate the same here.
Mr. Thakur, along with Chief Engineer Srinivas, CEO of AP Urban Infrastructure Asset Management Ltd (APUIAML) Prakash Gaur and senior officials Raj Dabburi and Narayana Reddy, visited Ahmedabad and Vadodara.

‘We will reduce work hours for female conductors’
Road Transport Corporation employees staged a protest on Wednesday with a list of demands including timely payment of salaries, reduction in work hours and restarting operations for the entire fleet of BMTC buses. They also want BMTC to drop its plan to lease electric buses from private operators.
Due to poor fare revenue after COVID-19, Road Transport Corporations (RTCs) have been relying on the State government for the salaries of over 1.3 lakh employees, who are yet to get full salaries for the months of December and January.
