The captain of RL club Salford Red Devils has chosen a West Cumbrian charity to benefit from his testimonial year. Lee Mossop, 32, whose home town is Whitehaven, has chosen Hospice at Home West Cumbria as one of his charities for his 2021 testimonial year. Lee, 32, moved to Wigan.
Date and venue of first Saints v Wigan Super League game confirmed SAINTS will travel to Wigan over the weekend of 19-22 August as a centrepiece of the Betfred Super League s Rivals Round. The weekend will replicate the traditional Easter programme - one that has been altered this year due to early games being held behind closed door. The games have been moved back in the season in the hope that bumper crowds of fans will be able to cheer on their team from the stands. Last year s Easter fixture was cancelled due to the lockdown. Saints fans have not been able to witness a live clash with Wigan since the 2019 Super League semi-final and had to watch last year s gripping final on TV.
This will see Rugby League’s biggest rivals go head-to-head in Rivals Round. Amongst the six fixtures, the round will see Wigan Warriors host St Helens, Castleford Tigers host Wakefield Trinity and of course, the Hull Derby. In a change to norm, due to current Covid restrictions, the “traditional” Easter fixtures have been moved back in the season in the hope that bumper crowds of fans will be able to cheer on their team from the stands. These games have provided some of the most enduring moments in Super League over the years and with no doubt all to play for just five rounds from the end of the regular season, these games will again create some memorable moments.
