The Penns Manor School District reported a new positive covid-19 case yesterday. It involves an elementary school employee who was last in school on January 12th. The employee has had no contact with the Penns Manor school community, and there are no changes to the school’s educational schedule.
Homer-Center has two active cases, both confirmed on January 15th and both involving elementary school students. One of the students has had no close contacts with anyone else in the school and the other has, with Department of Health quarantine recommendations being followed in that case.

On Wednesday night, the Blairsville-Saltsburg School Board approved a new date for the Section 7-780 hearing concerning the possible closure of the Saltsburg Middle-High School, and the format in which it will be held.
The board approved the hearing will be held on January 13th and, if necessary, the 14th starting at 5:30 at the Saltsburg Middle-High School Complex. The main reason for the re-scheduling was Governor Tom Wolf’s recent order reducing indoor gatherings to 10 people or less. Board president Rick Harper said that most of the people inside will be some board members, the hearing officer and a stenographer. He added that people can still submit testimony in person and detailed how it would be done.
