KRQE-TV reporter charged with impersonating police, reckless driving

ROSWELL - A KRQE-TV reporter based in Roswell has been charged with three counts of impersonating a peace officer and two counts of reckless driving for incidences that occurred last year. Corey King, 28, of the 300 block of East Lewis Street, was issued a summons Wednesday to appear in magistrate court in Chaves County on the charges, after a months-long New Mexico State Police investigation revealed several instances in which he became involved in official police business. The investigation was conducted by New Mexico State Police Officer Kai Perez, and NMSP Agent Steven Chavez in Roswell, according to court documents.  KRQE has suspended King pending an investigation, the Albuquerque-based station reported. The station has presumably removed King s stories from its website. A search for Corey King on KRQE.com shows only one story  the one about him being arrested and suspended.

Henry Walton (Submitted Photo) Henry Walton, 48, of Roswell was detained by law enforcement shortly after 9:02 p.m. at an East Pine Lodge Road residence, according to documents filed Monday in Chaves County Magistrate Court. Walton faces charges including aggravated fleeing of a law enforcement officer, reckless driving and failure to stop at a stop sign. Court documents state a Roswell police officer encountered Walton at 8:31 p.m. Saturday when the officer, heading north on Atkinson Avenue, reportedly witnessed a white vehicle traveling southbound at 68 mph in a 35 mph zone. When the officer turned around, he observed the white vehicle fail to yield for a stop sign at the intersection of Atkinson Avenue

Kailen Gonsalves-Kamalii (Submitted Photo) Kailen Gonsalves-Kamalii, 23, and Fernado Munoz, 22, were apprehended at separate locations Saturday night after the theft was reported, according to documents filed Monday in Chaves County Magistrate Court. Munoz and Gonsalves-Kamalii were each charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer. Gonsalves-Kamalii is also charged with one count each of criminal damage to property, under $1,000; leaving the scene of an accident, no bodily harm or death; failure to give immediate notice of accidents; and leaving the scene of an accident involving damage to vehicles.

Austin Medford (Submitted Photo) The U.S. Marshals Eastern District of California branch, with assistance from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol, located and arrested Austin Cyrus Medford, 23, at his parents’ home in Riverdale, California Wednesday without incident, said Juan Miranda, public information officer for the U.S. Marshals Service branch in southern New Mexico. Miranda said the apprehension of Medford was a collaborative effort between the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, the California Highway Patrol, the Roswell Police Department, the Chaves County Metro Narcotics Task Force and U.S. Marshals office in Roswell. He said information was found and developed by law enforcement in New Mexico and shared with U.S. Marshals in California.

Copyright © 2021 Roswell Daily Record A woman accused of stealing two packs of beer and threatening a delivery person outside a local convenience store is the Roswell Police Department’s first addition to the “Roswell’s Most Wanted” list in 2021. Guadalupe Stephanie Perez, who also goes by the aliases Stephanie Ortega, Stephanie Perez and Martha Perez, is wanted on one count each of robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery, according to a press release issued Tuesday. Perez, 28, is described as 5 feet tall and 100 pounds, with black and blonde hair and brown eyes. She has tattoos on her neck, head and shoulders.
