At a Glance The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) program at Saint Joseph’s College offers students the opportunity to learn the knowledge and skills to be a CCMA and to participate in hands-on and relevant learning. Before students are sent out for their clinical experiences, we replicate real-life situations in our medical lab; this allows our students to practice and perfect their learning and skills. ​ Having a specialized skill set and knowledge for CCMAs is vital in the high demand area of today’s health career profession. CCMAs usually work in hospitals, health clinics, physician and specialist offices, and outpatient facilities. CCMAs will do a variety of tasks such as administering medications, assisting with minor procedures, obtaining laboratory specimens, providing patient education, etc. They are a vital member of a health-care team and becoming a CCMA ensures a career in a high paced, exciting environment. 

Lake Land College Medical Assistant Program Receives Accreditation

Effingham, IL / Effingham Radio Apr 21, 2021 12:12 PM Mattoon, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The medical assistant program at Lake Land College received accreditation status from the Commission on the Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) in March upon the recommendation of Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB). “I am very pleased that our medical assistant program was the first in the region to achieve being fully accredited through CAAHEP,” Medical Assistant Program Director/Instructor Molly Yeske said. “I am happy that we are able to provide quality education in a very rapidly growing career.” The Lake Land medical assistant program trains students in both administrative and clinical roles. In these positions, duties may include patient care, phlebotomy, injections and assistance with minor office procedures, scheduling and billing.
