Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) Shelby Rockafellow has joined Winona Health’s General Surgery department.
“Growing up, I knew that I wanted to be in health care. My grandma was a nurse, and it was always interesting to talk to her about what that was like,” said Rockafellow. “I also really liked science and learning about the human body. One of the things that drew me to the surgery field is that it’s a specialty that can help some patients find immediate relief from health issues.”
Rockafellow said she chose Winona Health in part because of a friend who is a nurse at Winona Health. “She has always had great things to say about the people she works with at Winona Health, and my husband and I love this area when we come to visit. It’s just beautiful and there are so many opportunities for hiking and being outdoors.”

Certified Physician Assistant joins medical group
Bartsch
Madelyn Bartsch, Certified Physician Assistant, has joined the Memorial Primary Care|Urbana practice to provide care to patients of this growing practice, along with practitioners John Crankshaw, MD; Joseph Metz, MD; Rochelle Clark-Pulfer, PA-C; and Danielle Smith, PA-C.
Bartsch completed her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Ohio University. She has been a Certified Physician Assistant for three years and comes to Memorial with experience providing high-quality patient care in a primary care setting. Bartsch will provide a full range of patient care services, treating individuals with acute illnesses or those patients with advanced conditions. She has expertise, and a passion, collaborating with patients for the treatment and prevention of chronic diseases, like diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure.
Evangelical Community Hospital is welcoming several advanced practitioners to its family of services.
Advanced practitioners are a group of medical professionals that include physician assistants and advanced practice registered nurses, who have higher levels of training and certifications, allowing them to care for patients in a variety of care settings.
