FDA weighs in on heavy metals in baby food as lawsuits pile up In the wake of the recent congressional report into heavy metals in baby food, the FDA says its goal is to reduce exposure to toxic elements in foods through research and collaboration, but has not said if it plans to issue guidance on upper limits for heavy metals for more food categories, as lawsuits against the baby food brands referenced in the report continue to pile up.

George, Miles & Buhr LLC announced the promotion of Andrew J. Lyons Jr., PE, to vice president and senior project manager. GMB also announced Lyons as the firm’s new owner.
Lyons began his career with GMB’s Seaford office in 2003 after earning a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Delaware. In his nearly 18-year career, he emerged as a leader in the civil and municipal engineering group. Lyons will now manage the Seaford office operations.
Lyons has expertise in municipal street and utility restoration, ADA design, sewer and water systems, wastewater treatment, storm drainage and storm sewers, site design and highway entrance design. He is also experienced in construction inspection, having served as resident project representative for upgrades at Pocomoke City, Md.’s wastewater treatment plant.
