Depending on your age, women in the UK are invited to attend a cervical screening (smear test) every three or five years. However, as noted by The Eve Appeal, last year nearly one in every three women didn’t attend because of Covid-19 fears. “Women should feel assured that the nurse or GP doing the screening will have all the correct measures in place to ensure that that the procedure is safe,” says Athena Lamnisos, CEO of The Eve Appeal. “This pandemic should have taught us all that looking after our health is really important. Cervical screening is an effective test to pick up early changes and prevent cancer from developing.”
