RAVENSWOOD Mountaineer Integrated Care will open a medical cannabis dispensary in Ravenswood after gaining approval last week to grow, dispense and process medical marijuana.
Although a timeline is not official, Ravenswood Mayor Josh Miller said it’s possible the dispensary could be up and running in the former City Hall building within six months.
Last year, Ravenswood City Council approved the lease to Mountaineer Integrated Care and Miller said everything is put into place for the business to use the building.

President Biden revoked the implementation of a last-minute proclamation issued by the Trump Administration that would have essentially exempted the UAE from 232 relief. This announcement will ensure that aluminum imports from the UAE will not harm the U.S. aluminum industry and threaten our nation’s security interests.
JAMES CLAUDE BALL, 87, of Ripley passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at Camden Clark Medical Center following a short illness. He was born July 3, 1933, at Hewett, W.Va., a son of the late Wilmer and Elma Elkins Ball. Claude proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in the Korean War from 1953-1955. He retired from Century Aluminum as a yard equipment operator with 37 years of service. He was also a former member of the United Mine Workers. Claude was a long-time Ripley Little League baseball manager and Midget League Football coach of the Blue Devils. He was a former President of the Ripley Athletic Boosters from 1977-1979. He could also be found on the sideline of Memorial Stadium many Friday nights where he was a member of the chain gang. He also helped coach girls fast pitch softball. Most of all he was very supportive of all his children and grandchildren and loved attending all of their sporting and school events. He was also a member of West Ripley Baptist Church. H
North American aluminum output climbs more than 4% in 2020: IAI
North America’s primary aluminum production reached an estimated 3.98 million mt in 2020, rising about 4.4% from 2019 levels, according to International Aluminium Institute data released Jan. 20.
Earlier in the decade, aluminum capacity in North America had steadily declined each year from 4.92 million mt in 2013 to 3.77 million mt in 2018, IAI data showed. The region’s aluminum output in 2020 represents the second straight year of growth for the industry after production in 2019 changed course, climbing to 3.81 million mt from 2018.
North America’s aluminum industry in December saw production total 338,000 mt, the third highest monthly output for the year. December’s production numbers rose from 327,000 mt in November and 324,000 mt in December 2019
