Pension fund also keeps Meketa, Wilshire on standby for projects

Jeffery Blackwell was named interim executive director of the $11.1 billion Chicago Public School Teachers Pension and Retirement Fund, according to a news release Wednesday.
He replaces
Mary Cavallaro, who retired in January. Ms. Cavallaro, who had been deputy executive director at the pension fund since 2017, was named interim executive director in October following the resignation of Executive Director
Charles A. Burbridge.
The status of Ms. Cavallaro s prior position of deputy executive director wasn t known.
Mr. Blackwell is president of the pension fund s board of trustees. He has been a member of the board since 2010 and was elected president in 2018.

The $11.2 billion pension fund s board placed the manager on watch Thursday due to performance concerns, said Angela Miller-May, chief investment officer, in an email.
EARNEST Partners also runs $549 million in active international developed markets equities for the pension fund. That portfolio is not affected, Ms. Miller-May said.
Kevin Pope, EARNEST Partners spokesman, could not be immediately reached for comment.
As of June 30, the overall allocation to international equities was 28.9%.
Investment consultant Callan assisted.
