A Chicago police oversight agency has released video showing the deadly police shooting of a 22-year-old Latino man.
Anthony Alvarez was shot and killed last month while running away from police. The video may be difficult to watch.
Police shouted, Hey! Hey, drop that gun.
We froze the video right before five shots are fired. Alvarez falls to the ground and says, why are you shooting me and the officer responds saying you had a gun.
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot suggested that the shooting stemmed from a low-level traffic offense. Video shows an officer firing as Alvarez flees, then Alvarez falling to the ground and dropping what authorities identified as a gun.

April 29 (UPI) Authorities have released footage of a police-involved shooting that left a 22-year-old Chicago man dead late last month.
Chicago s Civilian Office of Police Accountability released the footage Wednesday of the March 31 shooting that killed Anthony Alvarez, recommending in a statement that the officer who discharged his weapon be relieved of his duties amid its ongoing investigation.

COPA released more than three dozen videos, including one captured by the shooting officer s body camera showing Alvarez asking Why are you shooting me? as he lay on the lawn of a home.

The Chicago Civilian Office of Police Accountability has released police-worn body camera footage from the fatal police shooting of a 22-year-old man last month.
Anthony Alvarez died on March 31 after he was shot by police during a foot pursuit in the cityâs Portage Park neighborhood. Police have said Alvarez was armed with a gun at the time.
The release comes a day after Alvarezâs family viewed the footage for the first time.
