Port of Singapore eyes more clean fuel options January 14, 2021, by Naida Hakirevic In order to remain the world’s top bunkering hub, the Port of Singapore needs to look beyond liquefied natural gas (LNG), toward other zero or low carbon fuel types. This was pointed out by Chee Hong Tat, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Transport, at the Singapore Maritime Foundation’s New Year Conversations event on 13 January. During his speech, the minister revealed that Singapore remained the world’s top bunkering hub in 2020 with sales amounting to 49.8 million tonnes, an increase of 5 per cent year-on-year. New SafeEntry@Sea platform to boost Covid-19 contact tracing efforts for maritime sector in Singapore

SINGAPORE - The national digital check-in system SafeEntry will be extended to the maritime sector in Singapore later this week. A new SafeEntry @ Sea platform will be introduced at piers, such as Marina South Pier and West Coast Pier, to facilitate contact tracing of workers who regularly travel out to board and work on ships in Singapore s anchorages, Senior Minister of State for Transport and Foreign Affairs Chee Hong Tat said on Wednesday (Jan 13). There were two Covid-19 cases in the sector recently, one of whom was a permanent resident working as a marine surveyor at Lloyd s Register Singapore and the other was a 55-year-old Singaporean harbour pilot at PSA Marine in West Coast Ferry Road.
