Sumitomo Chemical exploring combined propane-methanol production scheme in Singapore

Sumitomo Chemical Co. (Tokyo, Japan) has begun exploring a possible combination of a propane dehydrogenation (PDH) technology that converts propane gas into propylene, with another technology that efficiently synthesizes methanol, using hydrogen and carbon dioxide (CO2), by-products from PDH. This initiative is under consideration in Sumitomo Chemical’s petrochemical complex in Singapore, and supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) as it can increase economic activity and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Petrochemical products, including ethylene and propylene, are used as raw materials for synthetic resins, such as polyethylene and polypropylene, and are mainly manufactured through naphtha cracking. SINGAPORE: Surbana Jurong Group will have a new chairman from Jan 1, with the appointment of Mr Chaly Mah, the infrastructure consultancy firm said on Monday (Dec 28).
This comes after founding chairman Mr Liew Mun Leong announced his retirement in September after a decision by the High Court to acquit his former maid Parti Liyani of charges of stealing from his family.
SINGAPORE: Singapore Economic Development Board has announced that the country’s manufacturing output increased 17.9% year-on-year in November, compared with a revised 0.8% decline in October.
International checkpoints
remain closed for ordinary travel, except essential crossings for Lao and
