SINGAPORE: Scoot passenger flights departing from Singapore will not be allowed to land in Hong Kong from Friday (Apr 16) to Apr 29, the government of Hong Kong said on Thursday.
The announcement came in a daily press release providing updates and COVID-19 case numbers for the territory.

Thursday s press release stated that a Scoot passenger flight (TR980), arriving from Singapore to Hong Kong on Apr 11, had two passengers who tested positive for COVID-19.

CAPE TOWN - Hong Kong authorities are looking to finalise an agreement with Singapore which could see vaccine requirements for travellers waived from Singaporeâs side once they reopen their borders.
The Straits Times, a Singapore-based publication, reported on Tuesday that Hong Kongâs chief executive, Carrie Lam, said she was expecting âan early indication of agreement between the two sidesâ. However, she wanted to get Hongkongers vaccinated whether or not it would be a requirement by Singapore officials.
Hong Kong had sent its initial travel bubble proposal at the end of March, which stated that passengers taking the Singapore-Hong Kong quarantine-free bubble flights be vaccinated prior to travel.

Indian carrier Vistara has been penalized by the Hong Kong government after multiple cases of Covid-19 were found among passengers who disembarked from two consecutive flights from Delhi, flown on March 10 (UK6391) and April 4 (UK6395). Three travelers tested positive for the virus on the service operated last month, while four were infected on the flight that landed on Sunday. Vistara’s passenger services from Delhi to Hong Kong are now suspended from today until April 19.

Immigration and health authorities are exploring plans to open up to Singapore within months, followed by other nations with low COVID numbers such as Fiji, Vietnam and Thailand, as well as Japan and South Korea, although their daily case numbers are higher.
Singapore holidays could be on the cards if Australia can provide “tamper-proof” vaccination certificates.
