About 2,500 employees to get PRP from ₹1-5 lakh
After the workers of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) got ₹539 crore as bonus in October last from its profits made during the last fiscal and also performance linked pay as Deepavali bonus, the management has now decided to give the performance related pay (PRP) after getting the nod from Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
According to officials of the coal company, an amount of ₹111 crore would be paid to about 2,500 employees of SCCL soon, for their performance in 2018-19. The Chief Minister gave his nod for PRP payment on Wednesday. Chairman and Managing Director of the company N. Sridhar thanked the CM on behalf of the officials.

The impact of COVID on the coal business of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) is likely to be much deeper than expected this financial year, although coal production has crossed the five-million-tonne mark in a month for the first time in December.
Production of coal in the first nine months of the fiscal remains over 30% less compared to the last financial year and it’s 33% less against the target set by the company for 2020-21. In the backdrop of economic and industrial activity coming back to near normalcy, the company management had planned to produce 6.2 million tonnes of coal in December at 2.1 lakh tonnes every day.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) as its coal production and sales amounting to ₹5,000 crore were hit both due to production loss and low demand during the lockdown period.
This was stated by Chairman and Managing Director of the company N. Sridhar here on Wednesday during the 100th Foundation Day celebrations of the company. He stated that the production and sales were rebounding slowly with phased easing of the lockdown measures.

N Sridhar, Chairman and Managing Director, SCCL said, “Competition is growing in the coal sector and to face this competition Singareni is ready to take up business expansion and substantially increase in production. The Singarenians are ready to face any challenge.”
On the 100th Singareni Emergence Day celebrations held at Singareni Bhavan here, he said, “Before 1998, Singareni incurred losses for 20 years continuously and was on the verge of closure. Thanks to the collective efforts of the employees and management, it has come out of losses and for the past 20 years Singareni is earning profits.”
