SCCL gears up for mega green drive Updated: Updated: To plant around 17,000 saplings today Share Article To plant around 17,000 saplings today The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) is all set to plant around 17,000 saplings in the Kothagudem coal belt region comprising four areas on a single day on February 17. The State-owned coal mining company has planned to undertake the mega green drive as part of the State government’s “Haritha Haram” programme. The company has set a target of planting around two lakh saplings in all the 11 areas spread across six districts on a single day on Wednesday. The SCCL has planted nearly 4.59 crore saplings under the Haritha Haram afforestation programme in the entire coal belt region of the State since 2015.

Updated: Share Article AAA Members of the Singareni Coal Mines Karmika Sangh, which is affiliated to ABKMS-BMS, staged a dharna under the banner ‘Save Singareni’ in Kothagudem on Wednesday. The demonstrators displayed placards demanding immediate resolution of the long pending demands of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) workers including the contract labourers in the SCCL, jointly owned by the government of Telangana and the government of India on a 51:49 equity basis. Addressing the dharna, the BMS coal industry wing in-charge and senior trade union leader K. Lakshma Reddy demanded that a high-level probe be ordered into the alleged irregularities in utilisation of the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT), CSR and other funds in the SCCL in the past six years.

HC grants 2 months to govt. for jobs to ST families Telangana High Court on Wednesday granted two months to the State government to complete the process of recruitment to nearly 40 posts of teachers belonging to families of Scheduled Tribes whose houses were acquired by Singareni Collieries Company Limited for open cast project in Yellendu of Bhadradri Kothagudem district. A bench of Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy passed the interim direction after the government agreed to complete the recruitment when a Contempt of Court petition filed by members of displaced families came up for hearing. Members of these families moved the HC by filing writ petitions seeking employment for one member of each family as per GO MS no. 34 of 2010.
