NORTH EAST â A man is facing several charges after investigators confiscated 82 pounds of suspect marijuana with an estimated street value of more than $280,000 â in addition to a bag holding in excess of $100,000 in cash â during a traffic stop near North East, according to Cecil County District Court records.
Maryland State Police Sgt. Conner stopped a 2020 Toyota Sienna with New York license plates at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Friday in the northbound lane of Interstate 95, about two miles north of the North East/Rising Sun ramps, for allegedly speeding, police reported.
While interacting with the driver, Yong Bao Wang, 62, of Flushing, N.Y., the sergeant âdetected numerous indicators of criminal activity and believed that Wang was actively engaged in a drug crime,â court records allege. NORTH EAST â A man is facing numerous charges after he allegedly punched a Maryland State Police trooper on a street in North East, moments before the investigator confiscated a loaded handgun that had been reported stolen and a dozen baggies containing suspect heroin mixed with fentanyl, according to Cecil County District Court records.
The incident leading to the arrest of the suspect â Jeremy Brooke-Thodos, 32, of the 100 block of West Huron Court near North East â started at approximately 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday, when patrolling MSP Tfc. Arment noticed Brooke-Thodos walking in the area of Jethro Street and Mauldin Avenue, police said.
ELKTON â A police check on a suspicious vehicle parked outside an Elkton hotel led to investigators seizing nearly two ounces of suspected methamphetamine and other drugs â including hallucinogenic mushrooms â and arresting two suspects, according to Cecil County District Court records.
Investigators identified the suspects as Lee R. Dunsmore, 45, of the 200 block of Sycamore Road near Elkton; and Louis A. Aguilar, 23, of the unit block of Maple Court, also near Elkton.
Elkton Police Department officers arrested the suspects at approximately 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, after making a welfare check on two men seen inside a red Saturn Vue that was parked directly in front of the side entrance of the Hampton Inn in the unit block of Warner Road, down a hallway from the front desk in the lobby, police said. A hotel employee had requested the check on the suspicious vehicle, police added.
