Bullet shatters window of occupied home near Elkton

ELKTON — An investigation is continuing after a bullet ripped into a home near Elkton on Wednesday while a teenage resident — engaged in a virtual classroom — was inside the residence, according to the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office. No one was wounded during the incident, which occurred at approximately 2 p.m. Wednesday in the unit block of Pleasant Hill Drive, off Kirk Road, north of Elkton. “A 15-year-old resident was doing online school when she heard a window shatter,” reported Lt. Micheal Holmes, a CCSO spokesman, who outlined that the girl called her mother who, in turn, contacted authorities. Investigators determined that a bullet, which had been fired from a yet-to-be-determined point, ripped through a house window before coming to rest inside the home, according to Holmes, who emphasized that the bullet did not come close to the teenage resident.

Burglary near Elkton marked by theft of $30K in ammunition

ELKTON — Investigators are looking for leads after an unknown person or people broke into a garage on a property near Elkton and stole thousands of rounds of varied ammunition valued at approximately $30,000, according to the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office. CCSO deputies responded to the unit block of Starling Lane, off Barksdale Road, northeast of Elkton, on Monday morning after the property owner reported that a burglary-related theft had occurred there, police said. The property owner estimated that the crime occurred between 6 p.m. on Sunday and 6 a.m. on Monday, police added. “The door to the detached garage had been opened and a large amount of ammunition — thousands of rounds — was missing from inside that garage. The ammunition was for handguns and rifles, all different calibers,” said Lt. Michael Holmes, a CCSO spokesman.

House raid near Elkton nets guns, drugs, one arrest

ELKTON — A man prohibited from possessing firearms because he has an attempted murder conviction on his criminal record remained jailed Monday, after investigators confiscated guns and suspect illegal drugs from a residence near Elkton during a raid, according to Cecil County District Court records. Investigators identified the suspect as 42-year-old Demina Gude, whose address is listed in court records as the unit block of Whitehall Circle in Elkton. Detectives allegedly linked Gude to a residence in the 600 block of Abbott Drive and raided the place on Saturday, culminating an investigation by the Harford County Drug Task Force, which received assistance from the Cecil County Drug Task Force members and Cecil County Sheriff’s Office deputies, police reported.
