C R Fire Department Announces Impressive Addition To Fleet PHOTO

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department announced Monday morning they re doing a final inspection of a new addition to the city s fleet of fire-fighting equipment. A photo of the new truck is below. According to a post on the Cedar Rapids Fire Department s Facebook page, it s a 107-foot Ascendant stick ladder truck.  In the post, the department thanked the city manager (Jeff Pomeranz), along with his staff, and the Cedar Rapids City Council. As you can see in the photo below, the new ladder truck will be assigned to station seven (L7 on side of the vehicle). Fire Station 7 is one of three fire stations on Cedar Rapids northeast side. Built in 1999, according to the city website, it s located at 206 29th Street NE. The city has a total of nine fire stations.

Children scampered on and around Hancher’s “Wellspring” fish sculptures in October while waiting to tour the “Hancher Illuminated” indoor/outdoor light and art installation in Iowa City. High school seniors and newlyweds pose for photos by the giant “Rollic” sculpture in downtown Cedar Rapids’ Greene Square. Pedestrians stroll, dine and listen to music in Marion’s Uptown Artway, which transformed a nondescript alley into a destination space.
