An alleged Islamic State fighter arrested upon his return to Australia from Turkey has been extradited to NSW to face terrorism charges.
Mohamed Zuhbi arrived in Melbourne on a flight from Turkey on May 8 and was taken into custody by counterterrorism authorities at the airport.
The 30-year-old travelled from Sydney to Turkey in 2013, and then allegedly on to Syria, where he recruited and helped foreign fighters travel to the area.

Zuhbi has been extradited to NSW after completing quarantine in Victoria, and appeared before Sydney Central Local Court on Tuesday.

Subscriber only A 31-year-old man will be extradited to New South Wales after he was arrested in Brisbane in relation to an alleged sexual assault on ANZAC Day. Joe Noamua Tauiliili did not appear at Brisbane Arrest Court on Thursday when magistrate Robbie Davies granted the extradition order. Mr Tauiliili will be taken to Sydney Central Local Court tomorrow to face six charges of aggravated sexual assault in company. He did not apply for bail. New South Wales police on Thursday morning said Mr Tauiliili was arrested at Amberley in Brisbane on Wednesday afternoon. Police will allege Mr Tauiliili and two other men repeatedly sexually assaulted a 37-year-old woman who they met at a pub in Sydney s north west.

The 29-year-old Greenacre man was charged with seven offences including assault, unlawful detention, property damage and drug possession. He was granted bail in Sydney Central Local Court on Monday despite police arguing he posed a serious risk to his partner and the community.
The offences allegedly occurred in October, three months after the couple moved into a home in Greenacre together. On the night of October 28, the accused man was angered by a text message the woman, 30, received from her ex-boyfriend, according to police allegations detailed in court documents.
