A high priority for the radical Left is a national takeover of our elections. It wants the bureaucrats in DC running our elections. This is what S. 1, or The Corrupt Politicians Act, is all about â another big government power grab.
Following the 2020 election, there is no doubt that many states need to reform their election laws. A national takeover is not the answer. Power is best left close to the people. Elections should be run at the state and local levels.
The Corrupt Politicians Act sets out to turn all the states toward the Pennsylvania election model of chaos and uncertainty. States will be required to count ballots that arrive up until 10 days after Election Day, meaning the election will drag on and on. Meanwhile, my home state of Ohio, which ran smoothly and delivered results on Election Night, will be forced to adopt this flawed election system.
Texas Republican senator calls sweeping election reform bill the single most piece of legislation on Hannity
Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz pledged on Hannity Monday to fight tooth and nail against the Democrats sweeping election reform bill, dubbed by Republicans as a Democratic power grab to federalize local elections.
SEN. TED CRUZ: This bill before the Senate, S1 or H.R.1, many of us are calling it the Corrupt Politicians Act, is in my view the most dangerous piece of legislation before the United States Congress.
There are two buckets of what the Democrats are trying to do. One is bad policy, things like massive new taxes massive new spending, massive new regulations all of those That will hurt Americans across the country. But the second bucket is rigging the game, trying to change the rules so they never lose again. And the crown jewel of the rigging the game proposal is the Corrupt Politicians Act.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said Sunday that Democrats should push through an infrastructure package without Republican support. He didnât âagreeâ that Biden should wait for âconsultation and dialogueâ with Republicans. âThe bottom line is the American people want results.â Youâd think from his comments that Democrats had already offered to negotiate, and that Republicans had stubbornly refused to make reasonable compromises. In fact, although President Biden pitched his $2.2 trillion infrastructure package over a month ago, he is meeting with top Congressional Republicans today for the first time.
Sanders got one thing right: the American people do want results. Itâs shocking how little progress the U.S. Congress can make on such an overwhelmingly bipartisan issue as infrastructure. Despite years of rhetoric, Americaâs infrastructure is still awaiting its first major overhaul since President Eisenhower founded the interstate system.
Blackwell: Senate Democrats Closer to Power Grab with S. 1 Committee Vote
11 May 2021
Senate Democrats are cramming a federal takeover of elections through a key vote on the Corrupt Politicians Act this week, part of their plan with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to transform America into a permanent one-party socialist nation.
Tuesday the Senate Rules Committee is expected to vote along party lines to send S. 1 – the Senate version of H.R. 1, which is officially named the For the People Act but which is better named the Corrupt Politicians Act – to the Senate floor. Normally a 9-9 tie vote in committee would doom a bill, but Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has muscled through a perversion of Senate rules to take to the Senate floor legislation and nominations that should have died in committee.

Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz called Democrats’ sweeping voting system overhaul “Jim Crow 2.0” and put the blame for the racist, suppression laws of the past on Democrats.
Speaking at a Senate markup hearing on Tuesday for the
For the People Act, dubbed H.R. 1 in the House and S. 1 in the Senate, Cruz acknowledged Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer describing Jim Crow laws.
“He s right. Jim Crow laws were bigoted, racist, and disenfranchise millions of people,” Cruz said. “It is worth remembering that those Jim Crow laws were drafted by Democrats, they were implemented by Democrats, and they kept Democrats in power.”
