Last September, Season 18 of Bravo s “Top Chef” (premiering Thursday, 8 EDT/PDT) sharpened its knives and began filming during the pandemic, keeping its original location of Portland, Oregon, and reimagining some of the kitchen standards that make the Emmy-winning competition show sizzle.
This season’s “cheftestants,” as Bravo calls them, include 15 executive chefs and restaurant owners. All involved quarantined ahead of production, including the crew, host Padma Lakshmi, head judge Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons.
Lakshmi s preproduction bubble in Portland included her 11-year-old daughter, Krishna. During Colicchio s own lockdown, “I had my dog with me, so I went outside to walk her. And that was it,” says the judge, who stayed solo in an Airbnb. Both say they were tested every other day during the two-month taping.

There’s a room at Edinburgh Festival Fringe called Late’n’Live, although it’s nickname is ‘the bear pit’ because of how unhinged it can sometimes get. Our festival club is loosely modelled on that, in so far as it’s a late night comedy lineup show where the festival’s biggest acts come to misbehave on stage every Friday night, or do their slick set – it can go either way. The 130th Maine State Legislature state legislature is 43% women, making Maine among the highest in the nation. Ten of them represent the Midcoast counties of Knox, Lincoln and Waldo.
Join Midcoast Women when The Honorable Mary Cathcart moderates a conversation about how they are working on behalf of their constituents.
“By the end of the program, we will have a better understanding of their priorities and the issues that address the unique needs of women and families,” said Midcoast Women, in a news release.
