Plot thickens as foreign firm retracts corruption allegations

ISLAMABAD: A Spanish firm first accused a Pakistani company of fake invoicing on its behalf to claim an extraordinary payment from Karachi’s Green Line Project (which intriguingly approved invoices unaccounted for). It wrote to the Pakistani mission in Madrid, the National Accountability Bureau, the FIA and issued a press release repeating the same charges and demanding action against the accused.
But a few months later, the firm has taken a U-turn as if nothing happened. It retracted the allegations that deepen the mystery whether the hush-up is an outcome of coercion or collusion. This is despite the fact that the accused company admitted fake invoicing, the FIA was investigating the allegations and the firm had expressed resolve to do everything to protect its reputation as allegations of kickbacks could hurt its business at the global level.

KARACHI: The multi-billion rupee Green Line bus project, which was meant to address the decades-long transport problems of Karachiites, is facing another controversy as this time a European company that had offered technological support and services for the project has sought a nod from the authorities to allow its team to visit the site “before inauguration” since it has came to know about installation of substandard equipment and materials by a local contractor under its name.

Karachi [Pakistan], June 10 (ANI): Sindh s Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday equated the Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan with the infamous East India Company.
Speaking at a press conference in Karachi at Chief Minister House, Murad Ali Shah said the federal government was behind the presence of the East India Company-type organisational arrangement in Sindh for remotely carrying out development works in the province, reported Gulf News.
Sindh Chief Minister believed that East India Company, the colonial-era foreign trading entity still exists in his province.
