ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: In the wake of an aggressive third wave of Covid-19 spreading across the country, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) banned the inter-provincial travelling by roads over the weekends on Sunday.
âIt has been decided to ban the interprovincial transport for two days a week (Saturday and Sunday) with effect from April 10, at 12am, to April 25, 12:59am,â said the NCOC in a statement, reports Geo News. The Centre notified certain exemptions to the new restrictions, given below:
â¢Goods, freight, medical and other emergency services will be exempted.
â¢Railways to continue to operate seven days a week with 70pc occupancy.

Over 3,500 coronavirus patients in Pakistan are in critical condition, the highest number since the beginning of the outbreak, the Planning Minister Asad Umar said on Sunday.
Umar, who heads the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the government’s central body dealing with the pandemic, said that 3,568 Covid-19 patients are critically ill.
“This is the highest number since Covid started,” he said in a tweet, as he called for safety protocols to be observed: “Please take precautions and cooperate with administration in their enforcement efforts.”

The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) on Sunday announced a ban on interprovincial transport services on the weekends from April 10 as the government continues to expand restrictions in a bid to curb the spread of the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
“In a session held at the NCOC, it was decided to ban inter-provincial transport for two days a week (Saturday and Sunday) with effect from April 10 to April 25. However, goods, freight, medical and other emergency services will be exempted,” read a statement issued by the body governing the national response to the pandemic. KARACHI: All private and government schools across Sindh have been directed to suspend regular classes from nursery to eighth due to the Covid-19 situation in the province for two weeks (15 days), beginning on April 6. However, the students of these classes and their parents, too, are encouraged to not miss out on learning activities and keep in touch with teachers on WhatsApp, through email, or through once a week visit to the school to collect homework.
This was said in a formal notification issued by the Department of School Education and Literacy here on the instructions of the Sindh Coronavirus Task Force on Sunday.
