KARACHI: The Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, sent a formal letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan about the alleged insulting behaviour of Federal Minister Ali Zaidi in the last meeting of Karachi Transformation Committee held at the CM House the previous week while Ali Zaidi, responding to the letter, said the letter in question showed mala fide intent and arrogance of the Sindh CM and revealed that no movement on the ground had taken place on Karachi s basic civic issues.
Corruption Worth Millions in Garbage Collection Exposed in Karachi
Officers involved in pocketing loads of cash in the name of garbage collection have been suspended by the Sindh Local Government Department.
The news came a week after the appointment of an allegedly corrupt officer, Shamoona Sadaf, as Director Outdoor Advertising in the DMC Central.

It was found that the suspected officers received Rs. 400 per house for garbage collection. Further details suggest they also made undocumented recruitments for the district municipal corporation, all of which have been canceled.
The three officers suspended on corruption charges include Director Sanitation, Muhammad Ali, Assistant Audit Officer, Ayaz Ali, and Nadeem Haider. As per sources, the local government has demoted the accused officers, and soon a probe from the National Accountability Bureau will be launched.

The Sindh government has announced the release of salaries to a Christian employees ahead of Christmas. Salaries should be issued to all Christian employees by Thursday (today), said Sindh Local Government (LG) Minister on Wednesday, while issuing directives pertaining to arrangements for Christmas.
No Christian employee should be deprived of advance salaries on the occasion of Christmas, he added, warning of taking strict action if he receives any complaints in this regard. He directed his department to ensure that the advance salaries are released for Christian employees in all local bodies by today.
DCs made heads of operations of municipal and civic services

The deputy commissioners posted in all districts of Karachi have been declared heads of operations of different municipal works and civic services in their respective jurisdictions.
A notification to this effect has been issued by Sindh Local Government Secretary Najam Ahmed Shah after approval from the chief minister.
The DCs in their respective jurisdictions will now look after civic and municipal services related to these offices: chief engineer of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation; superintending engineers, Karachi Water & Sewerage Board; municipal commissioner of the District Municipal Corporation; director/deputy director, Sindh Solid Waste Management Board; deputy director (municipal services), KMC; director/deputy director, Anti-Encroachment, KMC; and the DSP Anti-Encroachment Force, Board of Revenue, Government of Sindh.
Sharafi Goth garbage transfer station computerised

The Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) has computerised the garbage transfer station (GTS) of Sharafi Goth. The board said that the process of lifting and weighing garbage as well as the issuing of slips has been computerised, following which the entire operation of garbage collection will become transparent.
SSWMB Managing Director Zubair Channa said that after the installation of a 360-degree camera at the GTS, the relevant officers can check any garbage vehicle at any moment. Channa said that the SSWMB is making efforts to evolve a better mechanism for garbage collection and cleanliness.
