Police: Student used app to pay for threats made at Dakota High School Advertisement An initial investigation has determined that calls made about an active shooter situation were set up by a Dakota High School student. Around 1:30 p.m. April 19, Macomb County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Dakota High School in Macomb Township for an active shooter incident.  “Multiple deputies responded and cleared the building finding no evidence of any type of shooting,” an April 20 Sheriff’s Office press release states. “All students and staff, who had gone into a school lock down, were safe and unharmed.” Police say that dispatch received a call from a male stating he had been shot in his home. The male then gave Dakota’s address as the address where he had been shot. The caller then ended the call.

A special Chippewa Valley Schools Board of Education meeting was held March 3 to discuss the district’s instructional plan for the remainder of the school year. A plan to increase in-person learning in two phases beginning March 10 was approved in a 4-3 vote. One aspect of the plan is to return to full-time face-to-face learning on April 19. The district’s goal is to increase in-person learning in two phases March 10-April 16 and April 19-June 15.
