The local health unit reported eight new cases of COVID-19 and two recoveries in the District of Muskoka over the weekend.
Four new cases were added in Bracebridge, two females one 17 or younger and one 35 to 44 years old and two males, one 17 and younger and one 45 to 64 years old.
Bracebridge now stands at 18 active cases including one currently being treated for the virus in the hospital.
One recovery and one case, a 45 to 64-year-old male, were reported in Huntsville keeping the town at 19 active cases.
One case was added in Lake of Bays, one recovery in Muskoka Lakes, four cases in Gravenhurst and two cases were removed from Georgian Bay’s case count.
Another positive case at Barrie Transit has the union and the City of Barrie asking for their workers to get the vaccine as soon as possible.
There are now seven positive cases among Barrie Transit staff, according to their union, which is up from six reported on Sunday. Affected drivers are isolating at home.
Cory Trew, president and business agent for the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1775 in Barrie, said on Monday there are upwards of 200 employees within Barrie Transit, including approximately 175 drivers and maintenance workers who are represented by the union.
While seven may not be a large number out of 200 workers, Trew still wants protection immediately for the people the union represent.
BARRIE An undisclosed number of workers at the Honda plant in Alliston are now in quarantine after contracting the COVID-19 virus, Honda of Canada Manufacturing has confirmed. In a statement to CTV News, Brand Communications, John Bordignon says, These cases are a result of activities occurring outside of the work environment. We have informed those that may have come in contact with these individuals and the teams whom they work with. Because of this, Honda says the situation has not been declared an outbreak by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit adding, there have been no breaches in safety protocols and no further action is required.
BARRIE, ONT. Intending to make sure no one is left behind, County of Simcoe Paramedics hit the streets in partnership with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit to help immunize those who have mobility issues or live in rural areas. Deana Thompson, immunization program manager with the health unit, said the team is visiting homebound residents who meet vaccination eligibility. We have a list that we track, and we will call those families and ask when we can come and see them. According to Thompson, after passing all the necessary criteria, paramedics head to the resident s home to give the shot.

Nine more people in the District of Muskoka tested positive for COVID-19 by Friday afternoon.
That places the active cases count in Muskoka at 58 with two cases reassigned to another health unit and three new recoveries added.
Three cases, two 18 to 34-year-olds, one male the other female, and one 45 to 64-year-old female, were reported in Huntsville pushing the town to 19 active cases.
Bracebridge remains at 14 active cases with one new case added and one case reassigned to another health unit.
Two cases were added in Lake of Bays, one in Gravenhurst, two in Georgian Bay and none in Muskoka Lakes.
