Harris, who grew up on Syracuse’s Southside, is the director of community partnerships at Blueprint 15, a Syracuse nonprofit aiming to revitalize East Adams. The area is a portion of the former 15th Ward, a predominantly Black neighborhood destroyed by the construction of the Interstate 81 highway in the mid-20th century.

More than 1,000 people in public housing and refugee neighborhoods will receive coronavirus vaccines today and tomorrow, according to Onondaga County officials. More than 500 people were scheduled to get their first dose of the Pfizer vaccines at Toomey Abbott towers today. Those people were selected by the Syracuse Housing Authority and included people in adjoining ZIP codes who signed up for the OnList, according to a news release from the Onondaga County Executive’s office. Tomorrow, at least 600 people are scheduled to receive vaccinations at Dr. Weeks Elementary School, an effort to reach Syracuse’s refugee community. These recipients were referred via community organizations, according to the news release.
