BEIJING, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Sunday held a phone conversation with Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad.
Mekdad congratulated the Communist Party of China (CPC) on its 100th anniversary and praised China s brilliant achievements in various fields under the CPC leadership.
He said that Syria firmly upholds the one-China policy and firmly stands with China on issues involving China s core interests such as Xinjiang and Hong Kong.
Syria strongly condemns the groundless suppression and smear by some Western countries of China s anti-pandemic efforts and will never forget that the country s first batch of foreign anti-pandemic aid came from China, Mekdad said.

Iranian President Rouhani Meets Syria FM In Tehran, Pledges Support
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Tuesday his country will continue to support Syria, urging Damascus to confront Israel in the occupied Golan Heights.
Rouhani s website said the remarks came during a meeting with visiting Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad.
The Islamic Republic of Iran will continue its support to the Syrian government and people as our strategically and we will stand by Syria until its final victory.
Rouhani said confronting Zionist occupiers and terrorism is the joint goal of both nations. Until the liberation of all occupied lands including the Golan, confronting Zionist occupiers, should continue, said Rouhani.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said it s looking forward to hold comprehensive discussions in Moscow over the settlement in Syria and means of enhancing the multi-faceted bilateral cooperation.
Russian Minister Sergey Lavrov will meet Mekdad on Thursday, and the two will discuss a wide range of issues concerning the situation in Syria, according to the Ministry.
