There are now 100 people in isolation after 11 new positive cases of COVID-19 were recorded on Friday, April 9.
The new cases, four males and seven females, were identified from among 587 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. Meanwhile, eight persons recovered and were discharged from isolation.
Since March 2020, there have been 3,719 confirmed cases of COVID-19 (1, 804 females and 1,915 males). A total of 3,587 persons have recovered, while 44 have died from the virus.
The public health laboratory has conducted 145,814 tests, since February 2020.
To date, 65,867 people – 27,134 men and 38,733 women – have been vaccinated as part of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19. (

The number of COVID-19 deaths moved to 44 after the passing of a 52-year-old Barbadian man on Tuesday, April 6.
He suffered from a chronic non-communicable disease and spent 14 days at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility before succumbing to the virus.
There were also six new positive COVID-19 cases, one man and five women, recorded on Tuesday. They were identified from 558 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.
Additionally, eight people recovered and were discharged from isolation. There are now 96 persons in isolation. This is the first time since December, 31, 2020, that the cases in isolation are under 100.
