Kuwait: MFC clinches Oriental Trophy-2021 Season II

Kuwait, Apr 12: A total of 20 teams participated in the Oriental Trophy-2021 (Season-II) tournament. The teams were divided into four groups consisting of 5 teams each. The top 2 teams from each group were qualified for the knockout stages but the two undefeated titans of the tournament, Mangalore Friends Cricketers (MFC) and Magic XI reached to the grand finale of Oriental Trophy-2021 (Season-II) on Friday April 2 at 10 am, Kuwait time.
MFC was put to bat first. MFC batsman Sunil Sundara Poojary scored a brilliant 37 runs off 15 balls including 5 sixes and Melwyn Dsouza scored 34 runs off 13 balls by hitting 4 huge sixes. MFC managed to put the total of 121 on board for the fall of 9 wickets in 10 overs.

New Delhi, Feb 16 : Left-arm spinner Axar Patel s father was a rare parent in Nadiad town of Gujarat who let his son opt for cricket despite him being a bright student and a rank holder in school. Among the parents of meritorious kids that a top Kheda district cricket official tried to convince to let their kids play cricket, he was met with stubbornness and often rudeness.
Axar s father, now paralytic after brain haemorrhage a few years ago, had wanted his son to become an engineer but once convinced by Sanjaybhai Patel, secretary and joint secretary of Kheda district cricket body between 1996-2015, he let him focus on cricket.

MUSCAT: Sakshi Shetty of Women’s Cricket Sohar (WCS) swept the Oman Cricket Awards Night like nobody else, walking away with all the three individual prizes reserved for excellence on the field for the season 2019-20 while Indian Social Club (ISC) claimed the Winner’s Trophy from chief guest Janab Al Sayyid Qais Khalid Al Said, OC Vice-Chairman at Oman Cricket Academy ground in Amerat on Thursday.
The awards ceremony was also attended by Madhu Jesrani, Secretary Oman Cricket, Duleep Mendis, Chief development Officer, Oman Cricket and senior OC officials.
Sakshi’s outstanding season fetched her Best Batswoman, Best Bowler and Best All-rounder awards. Her team WCS was also happy to receive the Runner-up trophy on a cold Thursday evening.
