In a 40-page filing with the Rhode Island Supreme Court, the Rhode Island Attorney General s office argued, At every phase over the past seventeen years, all of the parties with an interest in the Champlin’s application have had opportunities to seek appellate review of the CRMC’s [Coastal Resources Management Council] decisions with respect to this application – until now. The CRMC and Champlin’s mediated resolution circumvented this open and required process where any aggrieved party could be heard.”

AG adds former US Attorneys to staff

JACKSON - Attorney General Lynn Fitch has added two former high-ranking U.S. Department of Justice attorneys to senior staff roles. Fitch announced Friday the appointment of Scott Stewart as Mississippi’s second Solicitor General and William C. Lamar to serve as a Special Assistant Attorney General prosecuting Medicaid fraud. “I’m pleased to add some of the country’s top legal talent, Scott Stewart and Chad Lamar, to the team of highly skilled attorneys and professionals we have assembled at the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office,” Fitch said. “Mississippi will be well-served by these well-respected and experienced attorneys who will enhance our ability to protect, defend, and improve the lives of every Mississippian.”

Clay Joyner named acting U S Attorney for Northern District of Mississippi

Joyner, currently the First Assistant U.S. Attorney, will take on the additional responsibilities effective Feb. 28. “Clay is well-respected by law enforcement, the defense bar and our community, and he will do an outstanding job as Acting U.S. Attorney, Lamar said. I want to personally thank him for his counsel and his hard work, and I wish him all the best in this role. He will do an excellent job for the citizens of the Northern District of Mississippi.” Joyner thanked Lamar for his three decades of service to the district as both an AUSA and USA. He pledged to continue the office s mission until President Joe Biden s new appointee is confirmed.
