The Tire Industry Association has signed on to a letter to federal legislators expressing concern about the Raise the Wage Act of 2021. Small businesses, ravaged by the COVID-19 pandemic, are struggling to keep their doors open and keep employees on payroll. More than doubling the federal minimum wage presents a significant obstacle to ailing small businesses trying to survive the pandemic, the letter states.

DIAMOND BAR, Calif. The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) is accepting applications for its 2021 scholarship and loan forgiveness programs.
Scholarships are available to students pursing a degree or certification that leads to a job in the automotive industry, SEMA said. Loan forgiveness is available to employees at SEMA member companies.
Qualified individuals can receive awards of up to $5,000. It s no secret that this past year has had its challenges. Now more than ever, SEMA is available to help support future industry innovators by providing financial assistance to current students and recent graduates who have outstanding student debt, said Gary Vigil, SEMA senior manager of professional development, said in a statement.
