Over the weekend, Special Olympics of New York surprised athlete Jordan Root with a game of a lifetime. Jordan Root was told he has been selected to compete in the 2022 USA Games at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Special Olympics organizers, along with family and friends, went to surprise him at his place of work, Wegmans. Special Olympics New York is the largest state chapter in the country. IT serves more than 68,000 athletes across New York state and involves year-round sports training, athletic competition, and health screenings.
Jordan Root competes in golf. In 2019, Jordan won the gold medal at the USA Games. The USA Games is scheduled for June 5th to 12th, 2022, with more than 5,500 athletes and coaches from across the country competing.

NYS Special Olympics Set For Summer Startup
There are more signs that the pandemic is receding, as events start to resume, one of the big sporting events in New York State the Special Olympics Summer program is set to start.
According to a news release from Special Olympics New York, the summer sports season will offer eight sports, and a variety of other fitness training events, that athletes can train and compete where prowl permits.

There will also be another session of eSports competition for participates throughout New York State.
The Athletes will compete in basketball, tennis, swimming, bowling, gymnastics, track and field, powerlifting and volleyball.
