This is the weekend for the Olmsted County Sheriff s Office puts on the Rochester Polar Plunge for Special Olympics.and it certainly is cold enough for it this winter. So, why isn t it happening? Did they chicken out?
Nope.just postponed it.
The 20th Annual Polar Plunge is set for March 20, 2021. According to the Sheriff s Office,
With COVID-19 challenges being considered the Plunge committee led by local law enforcement, Special Olympics Minnesota and the Rochester Flyers Special Olympics team.Limits will be placed on how many plungers will jump, belly flop, swan dive and cannonball into the cool waters of Foster Arend lake.

Willmar Area Community Foundation
WILLMAR The Willmar Area Community Foundation has opened its annual grant round to fund programs that this year focus on three different areas: addressing the achievement gap for youth, increasing community connections and welcoming diverse populations, and supporting productive aging.
Eligible organizations must be a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, school or government entity that serves residents of Kandiyohi County. For additional information and the online application, visit www.communitygiving.org/grants and scroll down to “WACF General Grants.” The deadline is Jan. 15.

According to Judy Imdieke, “We will raise the funds, and let the folks that specialize in this service match resources with those in need.” The business match of $2,500 is a one-for-one match.
